CAM FAMILY DAY AT THE CHELSEA ART MUSEUM

Discover Kotaro Fukui’s Silent Flowers and Ostriches

Untitled  mural, 3/2010 Indian ink, acrylic, and charcoal

Allow the paintings of contemporary artist Kotaro Fukui to transport your family to Japan for a morning of learning, art making, storytelling, and fun at the Chelsea Art Museum. Kids will strut like ostriches and wave like flowers through the exhibit while they explore the meaning and movement of Fukui’s work. Families can then make their own textured and sparkly ostrich artworks inspired by the expressive birds.  Kids will be encouraged to use their creativity and imagination to decorate a template drawn by the artist especially for CAM Kids. CAM will also provide supplies for making beautiful and symbolic irises like those in Fukui’s other paintings. Your family will leave with new knowledge of Japanese culture and their own artwork!

This program is designed for children aged 3-7, but children of all ages are welcome to participate. CAM Family Day workshops meet the New York State Art Standards.

CAM Family Day fees are $20 per family (up to two adults and three children), $10 per family for CAM Members. A package of 4 CAM Family Days is available for $45, $35 for CAM Members.

Space is limited, so RSVP for March 20th today!  To register, or for more information, please contact programs@chelseaartmuseum.org or call 212-255-0719 ext. 111.
