The 10th Floor is a synonym for the Department of Design and Technology, located on the 10th floor of 2 West 13th Street in Greenwich Village, New York City. It is with this nickname that most DT students affectionately identify.

From its inception in the mid-'90s the Design and Technology Department of Parsons School of Design envisioned a learning space where rigorous intellectual discourse would be embellished with the playfulness of vernacular whims, a laboratory where experimentation would sparkle with shining surprises, and a battlefield of windmill-fighting against the odds of commonality. It would be the catalyst for inspiration and a test bed for bravery and adventure.

Innovation, exploration, collaboration and social activism drive the BFA and MFA Design and Technology Programs at Parsons. The Chelsea Art Museum Exhibition includes interactive installations, responsive environments, human-machine interfaces, sound experimentation and good "old" analog works. These projects explore new aesthetic sensibilities by means of technologies, express concerns about the social and cultural conditions in which we live, and, via artistic strategies, strive to create meanings in a highly complex and polemic society.

This is the second edition of the student exhibition from the 10th floor. The opening will feature multiple live performances where your generous gesture may quench the thirst of a lonely soul, and interaction is bestowed with intimacy and grace. Look forward to fun underpinned with contemplation, and playfulness bestowed with responsibility.

The exhibition will be on view from April 13th through April 19th.
