ProyectArte

School of Fine Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Presents an exhibition of art created by young students and their mentor/teachers

June 16 – July 2
Reception, June 16, 7-9PM

June 16 reception hosted by Argentine supermodel, Ines Rivero, with special guests, Ambassador Hector Timerman and Cultural Attache Pablo Beltramino.

The Project Room at the Chelsea Art Museum, Home of the Miotte Foundation, has invited the young 13 to 19 year-old artists from the ProyectArte Fine Arts School in Buenos Aires, Argentina to exhibit at its landmark location in the heart of the Chelsea gallery district. The exhibition will be on view from June 16th through July 2nd.

Argentine supermodel Ines Rivero will host the opening night reception for ProyectArte's supporters and guests on Thursday June 16th from 7 to 9 pm. Argentine Ambassador Hector Timerman and Cultural Attache Pablo Beltramino will be in attendance to welcome two of ProyectArte's young artists who will be flown to New York City by the Argentine State Department to represent the school. The reception will feature premium Argentine wines, hors d'oeuvres, and live tango music.

The exhibition will include approximately 20 works from ProyectArte's accomplished young artists, recently showcased at the Centro Cultural Recoleta, Argentina's most-visited public exhibition space in the heart of Buenos Aires. These works are the culmination of a two-year experience that has taken some children from drawing on napkins in Buenos Aires shantytowns to having their work hang in world-renowned galleries. The show will also be an opportunity for ProyectArte to share its unique artistic and social mission with a much broader audience in the United States. The collection will highlight the impressive results of the school's master-apprentice philosophy, which brings together talented young people for long-term study with distinguished professional artists and educators. The exhibition will also feature a few works from these distinguished teachers, who exhibit in leading museums and are included in collections worldwide.

June 16th Reception FREE. Exhibition FREE with Museum admission - $6 adults; $3
students and seniors; free for members and visitors 18 and under; Thursday 6–8pm, $3 for everyone

ProyectArte (www.proyectarte.org) is a New York City-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates, develops, and supports innovative arts projects in the Americas. Its first project is the ProyectArte Fine Arts School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, teenage students are awarded scholarships for intensive, long term art instruction with some of Argentina's most distinguished professional artists and educators, whose work can be found in important museums and collections around the world, including MoMA in New York, Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, Maison de L'Amérique Latine in Paris, etc. The school's students are selected after a rigorous selection process based primarily on artistic merit, as well as commitment and financial need, which produces a student body that is artistically-gifted across the board, and substantially from underprivileged backgrounds. To dramatically expand ProyectArte's impact and encourage scholarship-recipients giving back to their communities, ProyectArte's more-experienced students organize student-led art workshops for over one-thousand young children in some of Argentina's neediest public elementary schools.
